Israeli Dairy School now offers private, seven-day long seminars to dairy farmers and professionals who are interested in learning the latest technological advances made by the Israeli dairy industry.

The Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council (DCRC) has introduced the dairy heifer synchronization protocol sheet, which outlines established synchronization protocols that may help producers improve heifer reproductive performance.

Madison, Wisconsin-based BouMatic, a dairy equipment and chemical manufacturer, has named GÜnter Korthauer as the company’s director of Technical Services.

A study of an
extraordinary family of cow antibodies, led by researchers at The Scripps
 Research Institute (TSRI) and coauthored by three investigators from Texas
 A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVM), points 
to new ways to make human medicines.

“These antibodies’ structure and
 their mechanism for creating diversity haven’t been seen before in other 
animals’ antibodies,” said Vaughn V. Smider, assistant professor of Cell and
 Molecular Biology at TSRI and principal investigator of the study.

Seventy-five people with 49 boats competed in the fifth annual Dairy Farmers of Oregon Milk Carton Boat Race, June 9 at Westmoreland Park Casting Pond.

“Many of the boats paid homage to the event with dairy themes including a dairy bus, dairy cows and a ‘lactose tolerant boat’,” said Pete Kent, executive director of the Oregon Dairy Products Commission. “Oregon’s dairy farm families enjoy hosting the boat race and supporting their local community.”

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) has chosen Jim Mulhern, chief operating officer, to take over as the group’s president and CEO beginning Jan. 1, 2014.

The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) this summer will launch five individual Milking Science Camps in the Badger State. The workshops, taught exclusively in Spanish by Dr. Oscar Duarte, DVM, is designed to educate Hispanic workers on the how and why of milking.

The Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council (DCRC) is hosting a series of webinars highlighting presentations from the 2012 DCRC Annual Meeting, with the goal of allowing all sectors of the dairy industry to learn about practical and applied ways to improve reproduction.
